Episode 2: Foundations

Updated: Feb 14, 2019

Kathryn and Alli discover their shared love of Blink 182, Harry Potter Clue, and also say a final goodbye to Alli's iPhone.

This episode is an honest discussion about having a foundation in Christianity. We all have faith in something, right? Whether we recognize it or not, we do. It could be in our personal achievements, our income, our family, or God. When building something we start with the foundation, which determines the quality of everything else built upon it! Where does the foundation of your faith lie? What is your faith built upon, and what do you put your faith in? Something unstable and unpredictable, or is it built on the rock-solid truth of God? The biggest question isn't whether or not we have faith, but the true question becomes what is it we put our faith in?

Foundation Definition:

1. The lowest load baring part of a building, typically below ground level.

2. An underlying basis or principle for something.

Matthew 7:24-25

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock."

"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."- 2 Corinthians 4: 8

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."- James 1:17

We all will face challenges or the "high winds" of life. We can withstand the pressures of the world with God's strength secured beneath us.

Action Steps:

  1. Where are you in your pursuit of a solid foundation? Do you think you are built on rock or sand?

  2. Crumble the foundations of the world (re-asses what you know to see if it aligns with God's Word)

  3. Start building your foundation with your posture before God (Come to Him in daily surrender; let's try not to operate simply from our memories of God, but rather seek fresh, daily insights. Read His Word, and then put it into practice!)

  4. Connect with authentic community where others are seeking out God's truth. Others can help point us towards God's unchanging character and truths, and ultimately, be used by Him to help build and lift us up

Thank you, listeners, for walking through this journey with us! We are learning as we go, and we so appreciate your patience and desire to join us in growing! Let's do this!
